October 16th, the sun was next to me

my friend warming her hands at our clay hatchery

Dear October,

I had a chai latte at a very nearby cafe today, plus a croissant with nutella. That croissant was delicious just by itself. It was crisp and brown on the outside, with crunchy delicate rings and then a warm interior, with just the right amount of nutella. I went to the cafe with a small group of people from my Spatial class. We'd been working with clay today, and the kind we were using was really hard, so we got a bunch of lamps that easily overheat and used it to help warm up the clay. The lamp was so bright though, I felt like the sun was setting next to me. It really made our table sleepy, and as soon as it was turned off it felt like we'd returned from a dream state. After working for a few hours, we asked for a break (since we usually have one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and , because the cafe was about ten strides away from our nature lab, we all went to the cafe for a snack/drink break. One of my classmates asked if they could have a "croissant with nutella" because the cafe was out of chocolate croissants, and I think the person behind the counter said they could do that, so once we saw that was a viable option, everyone got croissants with nutella. When I got to the cashier, I asked for a "chai latte... and a croissant with nutella" and the cashier closes her eyes and smiles and says something like you're the fifth person to get that (in a row). Lol. I wonder if that'll actually end up being an official menu item sometime.

Light, Grass, and Oceans

Once again, here I am writing a blog post while I should be working on my college applications. These college apps are really inspiring! Anyway, here are some awesome things I have seen recently:
  • While walking to an art museum – saw amazingly long luxurious grass. The most beautiful grass I have ever seen. It grows in tufts and tumbles, thin and green, and immediately reminds you of the ocean, or short wavy hair. It looks like it should be moving but it’s still. I reached down to touch it and it is oddly rubbery. If you have ever reached down to pet grass, well, this would have been kind of disappointing(but it was kind of interesting, how rubbery it was)
  • The trees by my house. They sound like the beach. I will explain later sometime.
  • The light that escapes the blinds and curtains and hits the edge of the windowsill really sharply at 7am sometimes
  • Driving to school one morning – sun is shining with those streams of light, one hits some parked cars windshield(lots of dried water marks on the glass). Then we drive down more, and pass by a girl who has really long hair and some Pocahontas-like stuff in her hair. She is getting in or out of the car, and her hair swings and the sun passes through it in slow-mo while we drive by. Very cool.
One day I will be brave enough to open all the blinds of the windows in my room at night. Then I will sleep(early). I expect to wake up to an explosion of light in the morning. You know, for some people, dreams wake them up. But more and more often for me, I wake up and then decide to go back to sleep hoping to continue my dream or have more dreams(even if it’s scary, I am more interested in what will happen next than I am afraid) and then wake up hours later. It used to be sad to wake up so often in the afternoons, and now it isn’t. Hmmm.

Green

Wow, high school is busy. I hadn't touched the computer all week until yesterday because I was doing homework(geometry especially). We get so much homework! And even once you finish everything due the next day, there's still more you can do like do the homework for the day after that or something. And I can't decide whether I should lighten the load for tomorrow or work on my idea for the directory contest thing.

I'm actually using my agenda for once, too. Art is really fun, and since I have it every afternoon, it's something to look forward to. :D

So, I am thinking of compiling all of my Spanish notes into one word document so that I can use it in case I forget some old vocabulary or grammar. There's a lot of notes though...

Well, my schedule in the previous post completely failed. Homework takes more than just two hours.

This is really weird. I thought I would go on ranting about high school, but all I have to say is that there's a lot of homework. Lunch is great, since we get to eat in places other than the lunchroom.

The bus is really nice in the morning. It's all still dark and everyone is quiet or reading or listening to music. And the sun slowly comes up and you have another thirty minutes to prepare for school. Also, I can never see the sun on the bus. I can see red and orange hues coming from one area, but it's never there!

And the title is green because I'm wearing green right now and I couldn't think of another title at the time that I felt like typing.
