Tag Galaxy

Here's a really cool photo search we were introduced to in class.

Tag Galaxy - Type in a word to search up photos with. If its a broad subject, several planets with different words branching from the word you typed in will appear. Now click a planet with the word you want to use. If it appears with more planets, keep clicking. Otherwise, you should see a globe of pictures. Drag around and spin the planet to browse through. Click a pic for a closer look. Click it again for a description. And click once more to go to the link. All these pictures come from Flickr.

Really amazing search engine. Try it!

Japanese Estimation Game

Nobody seems to know the actual name of this game, since its in Japanese, but someone said it translated to something like "Tight Area". First, it gives you a map of Japan, and a chart of blank pixels on the right. You roll your mouse over all the areas in Japan, and click on some. This pixelized area will fill the chart. You can keep adding more areas to the chart, and try to get as close to the red square as possible, but make sure not to go over. You pass onto the next level if the pixels stop somewhere in between the green and red squares. There are ten levels in all, and if you go over, you have to start from the beginning again.

Link: http://www.nekogames.jp/mt/2008/06/post_23.html

The instructions are in japanese, but all you need to know is in the above paragraph.

My highest score was 13770. :/ On my fourth try. I made the mistake of clicking the giant area up at the top on my first try, and went way past the red square.

I noticed that I've been posting a lot of links this month. @_@
And the titles for all my posts arent very creative. But I'm not going to spend three minutes thinking up a title for every single one of my posts, because I could be using that time to surf the web to come up with more links to post. :)

Well, enjoy!

Conceptis Puzzles

Wow. Here's a link to Conceptis Puzzles. Basically, its a site filled with puzzles, except they arent crosswords or mazes, they're pixels(Pic-A-Pix). I usually dont like puzzle sites because they're all the same, but you must try this one out! They have pixel puzzles, battleship, sudoku, slitherlink, kakuro, hitori, and hashi(not that I recognise anything after sudoku).

The special thing about the Pixel puzzles are that you end up with a small pixel picture if you get it right. There are many of these puzzles, except each has a different way of getting these pictures. There are also different difficulty levels. They vary from mega-big, many colors, 2 colors, and to the most basic, the black & white colors. Some have a combination of them too.

Pixel Puzzles - A link to all the types of pixel puzzles - Pic-A-Pix, Fill-A-Pix, Link-A-Pix, Maze-A-Pix, and Dot-A-Pix.

The pixel puzzles are HIGHLY confusing if you dont read the instructions, or at least the links I'm about to give you.

Tutorial - For those of you who don't like to read instructions, this is a video tutorial they have on their site. It is very helpful, although long. But since its so long, it covers most situations.

Rules - Self Explanatory. This isn't long at all, since its split into which puzzles you are doing.

Tips - Tips on doing the puzzles. (Try the bigger numbers first!)

Techniques - A step-by-step guide on the strategy for doing the pixel puzzles. Its like the video tutorial, but in writing and picture format. :)

Interactive - What you can do in the puzzle, and helpful things to know.

There. At the least, use the links for the tutorial and rules.

Now then, even after that, its sometimes still confusing. Also, the solution to the first 6 pixel puzzles are on the picture-link. Not all of them show the solution. For the ones that don't, you have to register and go to My Conceptis to see the puzzles. They make a new one every several days or so(6?). Anyway, here's a bunch of stuff I found out from playing.
  • If you click on the marking tool, and want to go back to the norml filling tool, click the marking tool again.
  • The numbers on the side can be clicked on so that they turn white or black. (Not sure if it work for puzzles other than Pic-A-Pix at the moment)
  • When the numbers double or triple up on the sides of the grid, it means that there are 2-3 seperate groups of blocks, depnding on how many numbers are there. For example, if the numbers 2,2,4 were on the side, that means that row or column has OO OO OOOO (pretend these are blocks) somewhere in there. Although the spacing might be different, the groups will always stay together, and there will be at least one empty block between them. (Pic-A-Pix)
  • The numbers on the side tell you how many filled blocks are in that row or column. Multiple numbers mean -refer to above-. (Pic-A-Pix)
  • These pixel puzzles require no math or english. According to the description, these puzzles improve logic and cognitive thinking.
  • You can do these puzzles on the computer(preferable), or printed out.

Ok. That's all for now!

Octopus Short

I found a cute film just now. I tried looking for other stuff, but I didn't find much. This post will be a bit short. :) But I'll edit it if I find something similar.

House?

Well, I found this fun little link, so here it is.

http://www.drawahouse.com - Draw a house and answer 10 questions for it to find a summary of your personality. Although the summary isn't always accurate, its still fun to read. I've seen the whole draw-something-to-find-out-your-personality thing, but this website is completely based on it. Once you make one, you can make a street so that your friends can add their houses onto the same street. Here's mine. (And I used a tablet, in case any of you were wondering how I got the mouse to actually scribble.)

I also made a street, so if you want to add a house to it, click here.

:) Have fun drawing!

Game Links

:D I am really happy! I hope you know whales are mammals...
Sorry, that was a random question. ^^
Anyway, I found a few interesting games, so here they are:

Z-Rox - Basically, you look at this line. And you try to figure out what word or letter it's scanning. You'll see what I mean if you try it.

Hoshi Saga - You have to try this series of games. 100 levels in all. Find the star. Make sure to think outside of the box though. A row or column of levels unlocks another level. There are about 5-6 slightly inappropriate levels here though. Most of these levels are interactive, and its fun to experiment. :) Each game gets better.
Hoshi Saga 2
Hoshi Saga 3

Yo-Yo? - Swing the ball around and try to click it. It changes colors everytime you click. :)

Microbe Kombat - Play as bacteria, and eat stuff to grow bigger. Then use your special powers to split apart, speed up, or blow up some of your allies(split up pieces of you).

Oh come on, I had to have told you about Vectorpark! It is one of the awesomest places to visit that has interactive toys. Feed the Head, Spider, and Acrobots are a must! Try them all! Click, drag, wait, interact! (This six-legged dog comes if you wait a little in Spider. It is just adorable! Jump by holding the click button, and jump higher if you hold longer. Try jumping when under the dog's foot. :)

Enjoy! :)

Dog House

Nitrome made another new game. o_o That was really fast. It says on their blog that they made these games a while ago, its just taken a while to release them. It's called dog house, and the dog is just adorable. Basically, you lead the dog to the kitchen by dragging a bone over there. Then you move rooms, stairs, elevators, and make a path for the dog to get there.
Try holding the bone above his head. :) He jumps for it! And while you drag the bone, he sniffs around. I'm on level 15 right now.

I'm working on another photoshop, and trying to pictures of everyone. Meanwhile, I've been listening to Love Story by Taylor Swift, which I found on Lily's playlist.

Hurricane Ike

Well, we had no power for a few days, but now it's back! After the hurricane, a lot of the trees in the parking lot uprooted. The pool is a mess. Otherwise, no too much other damage over here. It was pitch black at night though, so we played cards by candlelight.

I made some paper things just before the hurricane.
Also, Nitrome has a new game called Mallet Mania. Its really hard though. It's kind of like golf, but with a lot more traps and twists.

Also, I found these adorable animations a few weeks ago. They have no text, just pictures and animation. Here are links to them.
There She Is 1
There She Is 2: Cake Dance
There She Is 3: Doki & Nabi
There She Is 4: Paradise

Aether

I found a cute game. Its called Aether and I just love the intro. Anyway, you click and use your tongue to cling to clouds and stars to get into space. Then you follow the colorful firefly looking arrows to go to different planets. Each one has a small mini puzzle to solve.

And I know I haven't been posting a game every Wednesday. I keep forgetting! So I guess now its just once a week or something. :)

Interesting Links

Ok, I've been browsing the web all morning, and I found some interesting links. It's unlikely that you'll check them everyday, but its worth it to take a look.

Instant Origami - A bunch of origami sculptures that are made with speed. The only one I can recognize is the dragon though.

Flying Pizza Kitty - Er...Not really sure what this is, but its very cute.

Distraction Game - At first, it seems like a normal, simple game. But 10 seconds into it, distractions from outside your game screen start distracting and making the simple game more hectic. I love all the distractions.

Cows Go Moo - Why do they do that anyway?

Lost in Translation - Lol! Type something, and it translates it 5 times between languages, and back to english. Interesting results.

Past Life - Enter birthdate and get information on your "past life".

Planet 10 - Build a planet and see if it survives.

Poll Results 2

Ok, poll results!

Windows: 15 votes
Mac: 9 votes
Cell: 0 votes
Other: 0 votes

Ok, seems like Windows and Mac really squashed all the others...
Anyway, new poll up soon!
Oh, and new blog link. :)
